Agilaire is proud to act as a partner with Tekran Instruments, the leading provider of ambient mercury monitors.

Tekran makes the proven 2537A Mercury Vaport Analyzer, with a detection limit down to 25 parts per quadrillion (0.1 ng/m3). The 2537A can be coupled with the Model 1130 Speciation Unit and the Model 1135 Particulate Mercury Unit to provide measurements of elemental, reactive gas (RGM), and particulate-bound mercury every three hours.

Principles of Operation
The 2537A uses atomic flourescence to directly measure the concentrations of elemental mercury. The 2537A uses two paired gold traps to concentrate the mercury vapor, alternating between the two traps to
provide a continuous measurement, with an integrated output available every 5 minutes. The output can be provided through traditional analog outputs, or serially into the ESC Model 8832 data logger (see right).

To measure RGM and particulate-bound mercury, two additional steps are required. The Model 1130 uses an annular denuder to capture reactive mercury while allowing elemental mercury to pass through the 2537A. On a scheduled basis, the denuder is heated and desorbed, allowing the elemental mercury to be converted to elemental form and measured by the 2537A.

The final step to measure the particulate-bound mercury is similar- particulate is captured in a special regenerable trap in the 1135, and on a scheduled basis, the trap is heated to release the mercury, which is then reduced and measured by the 2537A.

Ambient Data Loggers
Agilaire acts as the agent for ESC's Model 8816 and Model 8832 data loggers for ambient data management systems in the United States and worldwide.

The Model 8832 Data Logger represents the pinnacle of technology,
with digital data acquisition for trace measurement, TCP/IP communications, and a user-friendly programming and data review interface for site technicians. With a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of over 17 years, and ESC's proven history of data logger product lifecycle support, the Model 8832 represents the best bang-per-buck investment available for ambient data acquisition systems.
