Tekran makes the proven 2537A Mercury Vaport Analyzer, with a detection limit down to 25 parts per quadrillion (0.1 ng/m3). The 2537A can be coupled with the Model 1130 Speciation Unit and the Model 1135 Particulate Mercury Unit to provide measurements of elemental, reactive gas (RGM), and particulate-bound mercury every three hours.
Principles of Operation To measure RGM and particulate-bound mercury, two additional steps are required. The Model 1130 uses an annular denuder to capture reactive mercury while allowing elemental mercury to pass through the 2537A. On a scheduled basis, the denuder is heated and desorbed, allowing the elemental mercury to be converted to elemental form and measured by the 2537A. The final step to measure the particulate-bound mercury is similar- particulate is captured in a special regenerable trap in the 1135, and on a scheduled basis, the trap is heated to release the mercury, which is then reduced and measured by the 2537A.
