AirVision 1.0.1 In Final Testing / Wiki Re-Launched (October, 2009)
After our initial good reviews, we moved forward with fixes and enhancements based on customer feedback. Of course, AirVision is a product that will undergo continuous improvements driven by you- the end users. To accomplish this, we have relaunched the online wiki (originally used for pre-relese design review by a group of early adopters), opening it to all AirVision users for comment, enhancement requests, ideas, and suggestions.

The wiki will also serve as the main location for support downloads, technical notes, workarounds, etc.

After Version 1.0.1 is released (approx Nov 1, 2009), we will hunker down for a more steady release schedule, probably running 4 to 8 months between major releases, although the next release will be towards the shorter end, focusing on an upgrade path for Digi-Trend site PCs.

AirVision Released (August, 2009)
We're burning the CDs today and working on the mailers, with the first CDs to go in the mail Friday. We found a few more things to fix in our final testing, but took advantage of the time to fill out some more features we were planning to put in Version 1.1 (data archive/purge, SQL query tool).

We also had time to do some initial compatibility testing with Server 2008 and SQL 2008. Although we will continue more detailed testing on these platforms, we don't see any compatibility issues at this time. We will be starting
compatibility testing with Windows 7 next week as well, since it looks like the future for mid-platform hardware.

We're all very excited, and working on our plans for Version 1.1, probably to follow in 6-8 weeks. That version will clean up less essential items, such as the option to send reports to a disk file, direct download of the Modbus server.cfg file to the logger, an editor for user-defined GSI drivers, and improvements to the Sample Data Editor. After that, the focus will be on the AirVision Site Nodes, to provide an upgrade option for Digi-Trend PCs and offer direct data synchronization between site nodes and the central server. We'll be posting product plans on the web site for future versions in the next two weeks.

AirVision Beta Released (May, 2009)
AirVision is now in the hands of our dedicated beta testers, and getting its field trials. We have selected a broad range of customers (3 government, 1 private, 1 running alternate loggers, NCore sites, etc) to give us the broadest spectrum of testing.

Our expectation is to stick with the June release date, the major critical path now being making the installation and data/configuration translation process as smooth as possible. The beta test uncovered a number of issues that we have addressed, but taking an extra 2-3 weeks out of our schedule.

Finally, we are putting the final touches on our Transition Training and documentation for our customers. Looking forward to June!

Agilaire Continues to Roll Out Advanced Data Management NCore Sites
Agilaire's flexible approach to digital data acquisition has paid off well for agencies facing the challenge of piecing together equipment for the new NCore monitoring initiative. We face a mix of serial-only devices, Ethernet devices, and (still) legacy devices that don't offer digital outputs or for which the digital interface offers no advantage and only drawbacks. Agilaire's flexible Digital Instrument Wizard and its embrace of the more standard Modbus interface has provided a relatively seamless integration (given the complexity!) and the best engineered solution for over a dozen agencies facing the challenge. Need help? That's what we're here for.

Agilaire Offers Wireless, Paperless Forms For Field Activities
CATS, the Component and Activity Tracking System. allows you to use Windows Mobile devices (or your site PC) to manage assets, parts, consumables, and maintenance activities, with a central web-based system for synchronization and reports. CATS will even offer a way to use your mobile device or site PC for all those monthly and quarterly QA/QC checks (we'll find a nice way to recycle all those clipboards, we promise). Click here for more details.

Agilaire To Offer Ethernet Digital Acquisition Training at Region IV Conference
Do you have new instruments with Ethernet ports, but don't know how to utilize them? Need to know how to build that in-shelter network? Don't miss the boat- Ethernet digital data acquisition IS the real way to do digital data acquisition (RS-232 is the "primative baby step" and is frought with design problems). Agilaire will be providing a training free at the Region IV conference, and we are always offering Digital Data Acquisition training programs at our offices.

Agilaire Works With EPA on New Real-Time Metals Monitor Interface (Sept 2008)
Cooper Environmental and the State of Missouri are working to test a new real-time PM / metals monitor, and Agilaire was able to use its flexible Digital Interface environment to adapt to the instrument in a matter of days. It would have been a matter of minutes, but the manufacturer needed to rearrange the internal registers a few times. That's the benefit of well-engineered products from Agilaire! New Agilaire Network in South America (April, 2008)
Agilaire has been selected as the provider for a new 12-station monitoring network for the city of Santiago, Chile. Thanks to the city of Santiago and our partners in Chile for working through the technical details and making this a reality. We look forward to the network starting up this summer.

Updates for New Ozone Standard (April, 2008)
E-DAS Ambient can be easily adjusted for the new 75 ppb ozone standard through the AQI Levels editor. The Violation of Standards editor needs a small update, which can be downloaded by clicking here.

Gene Furrow Joins Agilaire! (Feb 2008)
We're happy to announce further expansion of our development staff with the addition of Gene Furrow. Gene joined ESC in 1994, and will now be working with Agilaire as a Senior Developer. He brings lots of ambient experience to us, and is up to date on the latest development tools utilized in our AirVision development (C#, .NET, etc). Welcome aboard, Gene!

AirVision Update (Nov 2007)
Our more recent meetings with customers have taken the vision beyond a simple upgrade from E-DAS/ATX to a platform for handling many new data streams, especially in air toxics, and, for some agencies, spatially integrating soil and water data with PM/air data. Some of the new functions planned include:

• Expansion of the Generic File Import Tool to parse header columns in files
• Support of spatial data types for future GIS mapping applications
• Ability to link files to annotations (e.g., chain of custody)
• User defined acquired data units vs. reporting units (e.g., data collected as PPM, report as PPB, or vice-versa). This is becoming essential since most digital instrument interfaces are fixed at providing either PPM or PPB reporting.
• Faster handling of data access for editing/reporting functions.

To minimize the delay in the release schedule, we've pushed as much of the new capability work as possible to Version 2, but much of these additional requirements affects the database and system design to the extent that we've had to rethink and refactor some of the work done so far to build a solid foundation. To put it another way, we need to pull up some stakes and move the tent to a better spot if we're going to get a good night's sleep.

We strongly feel these changes and the additional delay will be worthwhile, given the long view we have for AirVision. Rather than an end-of-year release, we are now planning to release AirVision in March/April 2008 *with* full E-DAS/ATX equivalency plus about 40% of the planned enhancements. Version 2, with the remaining planned enhnacements would be issued in the fall.

Agilaire New Team Member: Bob Trull
Many previous ESC customers remember receiving training from Bob Trull. Agilaire is glad to announce Bob coming on board to support our trainings, as well as project installations and... well, his capabilities are far and wide, so who knows? We plan for Bob to receive detailed orientation from Tekran on their ambient monitoring line, so Agilaire will be able to offer training on the Tekran instruments for customers here in the U.S.

So How Is That New Name Pronounced Anyway?
The "gil" is pronounced like "Jill" (not like "gill"). Think "agile," like our company.
